Scientists who require access to comprehensive series of turtle specimens can study at the Chelonian Research Institute. The collections have attracted scientists from around the globe including turtle experts from Australia, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Brazil, Senegal, Venezuela and Vietnam, as well as researchers from all over the US.

Here, scholars have access to a world-class scientific library; extensive map, slide, and video collections; 16 mm films; and and eclectic assortment of turtle artwork ranging from classical engravings to contemporary original art, posters and curiosities. Visitors undertaking original scientific research utilizing the collections can usually be acommodated in Institute housing.
